Tomorrow (April 5th), the Honolulu City Council’s Budget Committee will be meeting at 9am to discuss, among other things, a proposed amendment from Council Chair Ernie Martin that would add to the city’s budget $3.84 million that would be used to reimburse the federal government for section 8 fees that were used to buy the ‘Aiea Sugar Mill property back in the early 200s.
By reimbursing the federal government, it would allow the site to be developed with a wider range of uses, some of which may include senior housing or rehabilitation services, a community recreation center, and other related uses that would serve the ‘Aiea community’s best interests.
We encourage you to please take some time to submit written testimony in support of this amendment. All you have to do is follow this link and fill out the form to express your support.
